Ruckman Haus Bed and Breakfast
A Unique Bed & Breakfast in the Heart of San Antonio's Historic District

About Ruckman Haus

San Antonio Skyline

Ruckman Haus is located 2 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio, Texas - home of the historic San Antonio Riverwalk.

San Pedro Springs Park and Pool

We are a one-block walk from San Pedro Springs Park which is the second oldest park in the United States. We are a block from the San Pedro Playhouse, which is as beautiful an environment as one can have for enjoying the theater. We are near a multitude of great restaurants, as our Inn is located near the historic Monte Vista section of San Antonio. We are centrally-located and just minutes from just about everything.

While our home is reminiscent of the early settlers of the Hill Country, both Anglo and Hispanic, and while the furnishings of the public rooms are done in that style, Ruckman Haus is a thoroughly modern home. You may have your first cup of coffee or tea in the morning in your room, since each is equipped with a coffee/tea maker and supply gourmet coffees and teas. Each room has cable television, a DVD player, telephone,  WIFI (so those of you who just HAVE to can use your laptops), and each room has its own air-conditioning system. As an added convenience for our guests, we have also equipped our rooms with their own refrigerator with complimentary bottled water and soda.

Dining Room East Patio

Living Room Library West Deck

Even though Ruckman Haus is a South Texas home dating from the turn of the century and retains the charm of that era, it has of course been updated with all the modern conveniences- even including high-speed Internet access. Your hosts know what hospitality means, and take great pride in ensuring that your stay is as pleasant and relaxing as possible. The rest of the staff is just as committed to making sure that you enjoy your stay in San Antonio. Ruckman Haus is a place where y'all can feel completely at home- without being "at" home.

The day begins with breakfast in the large dining room furnished in a Texas Hill Country style. Ron Ruckman, your host and chef, is pleased to offer a varied menu with his signature dishes, which include Eggs Benedict, Huevos Ruckmananza (original recipe), strawberry parfait, triple sec oranges and breakfast quesadillas. You host is also happy to modify any of his specialties or create new dishes for guests who have special dietary requests or restrictions. Guests may also take breakfast on the patio which, because of the magnificent oleander and many ferns, is always shady and inviting and where they can relax to the sounds made by the magnificent waterfall in the corner of the East Garden. During the day, guests may avail themselves of the comfortable living room and library. In the afternoon, the large, covered and shaded deck on the west side of the house is ideal for casual conversation and an appreciation of the neighborhood and the city.

San Antonio, of course, is probably the main reason you are here. You can find many suggestions for things to do and see in the area on the San Antonio Attractions page. After a busy day sightseeing or (perish the thought) working, however, you can return to Ruckman Haus and mingle with the other guests or enjoy a beverage on the patio, on the deck, or in the garden. When they are available, your hosts would be pleased to join you if you wish, and this is an excellent time to ask for their recommendations for dinner or evening activities.

For those of our guests who might find a particular day of sightseeing or work stressful, your hosts are pleased to recommend the services of the following spa.
