The French Room

 
The French Room is on the second floor of the house. The room itself evokes memories of the French countryside: it is reminiscent of rooms in the inns that dot the small towns throughout the provinces.

Our French Room is decorated with a blue and yellow colour scheme. You'll sleep wonderfully when you lower the window shades and climb into the wrought-iron heirloom bed. And if you leave the curtains just so, you'll be gently awakened by the morning sunlight coming in through the French doors.

To take advantage of the quiet of this spacious room, we have provided an antique marble-topped French writing desk, which provides and ideal place for you to either read, write letters, plan your day or set up your laptop computer and take advantage of our wireless Internet access.

Our business travelers tell us that the French Room has one of the best work spaces of all our rooms, although they also report that our recent additions to the room have made putting nose to grindstone that much more difficult!

As do all our rooms, the French Room has a full private bath; this particular bath is done in a blue and white colour scheme to complement the rest of the room. There is a wonderful shower tiled in cerulean blue; it has an unusual arched entrance that will remind you of the old-world craftsmanship that is common in European inns. Of course, the bath is fully-stocked with signature toiletries and everything you might need to relax and refresh at the end of your day, or prepare yourself for an evening in San Antonio.

The French Room is very nicely decorated with numerous accents, turn-of-the-century drawings and artwork. The French Provincial dresser provides plenty of room for all your belongings. There is also, of course, a flat-panel television with full cable access, and a DVD player so that you can borrow and watch one of the many movies that we have provided for guests in the bookcase on the second-floor landing.

A wonderful recent addition to our home has provided the French Room with a private, second-story deck just outside a pair of new French doors. This deck is at the back of the house so it is very quiet; it is totally covered and even has overhead fans and lights so that you can utilize it on warm afternoons or in the evening. The deck has a wonderful view of the East Garden, and the sound of the garden's waterfall can easily lull you to doze in the comfortable, French-inspired, cushioned wicker furniture.

We invite you to spend as much of your leisure time as you wish on your balcony. Get a cool drink out of your in-room refrigerator, or stop by the kitchen for a glass of wine. Grab your laptop so you can wirelessly surf the Internet. We think that you'll quickly find that the new deck may well be your favorite place in what has become an indoor/outdoor suite.

Standard - $120/night

Ruckman Haus is one of the few San Antonio bed & breakfasts that accepts single night stays for Friday or Saturday; the single night rate is $140. We also offer a corporate rate which is available Sunday-Thursday for our single-occupancy business guests.
